Picking Out Save The Dates
You know you’re officially on the wedding planning train when it’s time to pick out your save the dates and get those out to your guests.
I’m going to be honest – our save the dates gave me heartburn.
We’re getting married at the end of September, so we wanted to get our save the dates out by the end of March. We were well ahead of schedule until unpredictable Dallas weather rained-out our engagement picture shoot – twice. This pushed our timeline back a few weeks and gave me anxiety about getting the save the dates out too late. My fiancé, Andrew, also got antsy (out of nowhere – his usual response to any of my wedding-related questions is “I don’t care, whatever you want.” [side note – generally a VERY smart answer] And all of the sudden, Andrew REALLY had an opinion on when we get the save the dates out haha). We luckily got it all taken care of and in the mail with more than 5.5 months for guests to plan their trips to Dallas thanks to Minted.
Minted has SO many options for save the dates. I knew I wanted foil-pressed, so we focused on those. One EXTREMELY helpful tool on the Minted site is the option to upload several different pictures so you can see how your picture will look with the different save the date designs. We uploaded a handful of different pictures and finally settled on one with the ivy wall in the background. We chose another ivy wall picture for the back of the save the date. Minted has rush options for your processing and shipping, which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I ordered our save the dates on Monday and got them that Friday! We chose to do the upgrades – like the silver envelopes, silver foiling lining for the envelopes, and customized stamps. It was totally worth every penny – I’m thrilled with how our save the dates turned out. The whole package looked amazing and we got so many compliments from our guests! Minted also made the address-process super easy. We had all of our guests and addresses listed in an Excel spreadsheet, which we had to convert to the proper form for the Minted website, and then we just uploaded the spreadsheet and boom – all addresses were printed on the envelopes!
A few tips, though:
- Double check all of the spelling and addresses. We had a few typos and two wrong addresses, womp womp womp. But luckily we ordered a few extra save the dates so all we had to do was re-address the envelope.
- If you have the time, order a few samples to check them out before you pull the trigger.
- If you have the time, make sure to get the mock-up. We skipped this step because we really wanted to get the save the dates out, but in hind sight, the 2 extra days would have been worth it because I would have seen how small the font was on the back of our save the dates and made it a little bigger and easier to read.
If y’all are in the beginning stages of wedding planning, be sure to check out Minted’s save the dates, their wedding websites, and all of their other beautiful paper goods. Now that picking out save the dates is done, I can’t wait to pick out our invitations!
Thank you, Minted, for the amazing save the dates and for making the process SO easy!! Xo, AL
