Welcome! & A Little About Me

May 23, 2015

Thanks for stopping by The Fashion Brief! A fashion blog for working women. I’m big firm attorney living in Dallas, Texas – and I hate dressing like one. Black suits and white button-ups are not what you’ll find on this site.

I remember the day I decided I wanted to be an attorney. I wasn’t involved in a serious situation, wasn’t injured, wasn’t discriminated against, wasn’t screwed over in a business deal, nope, none of that. I was at Nordstrom.

I broke my arm when I was 6, and after that, I always wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. I was finishing up my freshman year of college at the University of Texas (HOOK ‘EM!) and I was just bored in science classes. I was at Nordstrom picking something up, and there it was, the most beautiful blazer and skirt I had ever laid my eyes on up to that point. At that moment, I decided I wanted to trade a lifetime of scrubs for a lifetime of dresses, skirts, and blazers that would perfectly capture my personality and mood that day.

Hopefully this blog will inspire you guys to be more creative and adventurous with your “work clothes” and bring a little bit of style to the courtroom, classroom, conference room, or wherever you spend 40+ hours/week. Maybe it will even help a few of you decide on your profession. 😉

Xo,
AL

p.s. My dress is Black Halo and no longer available, but I linked a few other white dresses for ya, including a very similar French Connection dress.
